CoD 1: Session 11: First Cave Dive (and dungeon creation)

Image
Pre-scene Notes - Scene setup/conflict:  The initial scene was supposed to be going for the party’s first cave dive, but… Interrupted scene: Celebrate Adversities. I was tempted to just move last scene’s paragraph with Helena here, as it was celebrating the adversities she had in the navy to now get this opportunity, but then I remembered the unfortunate bald cripple at the Cliff’s Edge, and think it may be good to roll him into explaining more about the Cave’s features. Scene: “You look like you still didn’t get much good sleep despite our generous sleeping arrangements. I doubt that tavern called the Cliff’s Edge could afford much better, so you’d better get used to it.” Yankovic quipped to Zar as the party of three left Rose Garden for the Towns Square. Only some servants were with them to serve them breakfast, Elodia, Langonst and Helena all having left for the day. The party left quickly without wanting to overstay their welcome, and dropped by both the Trades House and Governor’

CoD 1: Session 10: Hand in first missions

Pre-scene Notes - Scene setup/conflict:  Hand back mission, but too late and both Governor’s Office and Trader’s House closed. Interrupt scene: Remote event, Persecute Extravagance. The extravagance can be the Rose faction as they are rich merchants, and the persecute I guess can be the Governor trying to use the Blue Horizon incident to throw shade at her operations, as the party’s predicament could be made into a mountain or a molehole. This can also be why Rose had given out compensation to the party so easily, apart from goodness of her heart, as an attempt get the party on her side early.   Scene:  At the Rose Garden, Elodia was nursing a headache. She tried her best to parry Banquo’s earlier assault regarding the Blue Horizon, but considering she only lucked out to have heard the news pre-emptively from those adventurers at the Cliff’s Edge, she had very little time to prepare. She had ordered for her people to find out what had happened to the ship and crew, but drew nothing so

CoD 1: Session 09: Beach Captive

Image
Pre-scene Notes - Scene setup/conflict:  Party wakes up to being captives to the Blue Horizon’s residual crew. They have set up fire and are eating their crabs in glee. Altered scene: Inquire Love. This was a difficult verb-noun combo but I wanted  avoid re-rolls. This was the reason why Filli had a strange note at the end of the last scene. Both as author and part of Soloplay journaling, I’d thought adding a small part in a previous scene isn’t a problem. Obviously can’t do that as a GM as I would avoid retconing anything that has happened in the collective memory. Scene:  The party was tied up, seeing the residual crew of the Blue Horizon all eating one giant crab each, as well as the feast of the monstrous Crab King shared in the middle. The other crabs were bounded by Filli’s nets to their side. The Captain was munching a crab leg while examining a necklace of the description from the merchant in his hand. The party, with the cliff against their wall, whispered amongst themselves.

CoD 1: Session 08: Beach Search

Image
Pre-scene Notes - Scene setup/conflict:  Party headed out to where they had first washed up at the beach to see if they could find Stella, crabs, or necklace. It could be a wild goose chase. No interrupt/altered scenes. Scene:  Yankovic was going to see if his knowledge of tracking crabs, or any coastal marine creatures were handy. However, Filli deduced that as the young noble with the necklace would have wanted to find a secluded spot for her assumed rendezvous, looking at those types of places would be more ideal. ( Filli with the nat20 Investigation roll this time and not Yankovic ). In addition, having further visited where they had first washed up ashore, Filli now deduced that Stella had not fallen off and had probably gotten off the boat into the island before they had woken up. He hoped she had not ventured inland instead of making it to Cavesmuth. Combined with Yankovic’s crab tracking skills, the party without much effort found a colony of crabs that Filli also believed th

CoD 1: Session 07: Rest of the City Tour

Image
Pre-scene Notes - Scene setup/conflict:  Considering they had almost been to all parts of town, the party went to see the Trades’ Hub and the Docks as well. They can go south first then east along the coast to the beaches to search for Stella. No interrupt/altered scenes. Scene:  Zar said he wanted to buy some knick-knacks, as best to get ready even if they are not immediately going to the Cave. He returned Filli’s net he retrieved from fight with the Captain and gave him his  old fishing net as well. He had bought many random small adventuring consumables from the stalls, including a fishing rod, ten foot pole, chalk etc. He tried to haggle and it turned out very well, surprising the other two. He said he had to learn to be prepared due to his bad luck, and he still had some ways to go before completing his knick-knacks loadout. Filli, as he got himself an extra net, offered to get a paring knife for Zar, and Yankovic said he was knowledgable in skinning when he had hunted before.
